The 1st Permanent Committee Conference of the 10th Ophthalmology Department Congress of PLA Medical Committee (China) was held on March 26 and 27, 2016 in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, and it was decided to hold the 2016 Ophthalmology Department Congress of PLA Medical Committee in Chongqing City from June 23 to 26. The conference will provide good academic exchange opportunities for ophthalmology experts inside and outside the military and clinical scientists, as well as new achievements of military ophthalmology, and allow for full censorship over the recent progress in the academic level of military ophthalmology.

On the evening of March 30, Aier Eye Hospital announced internally that it would implement a conditional shareholding plan for fiscal 2016. The VBD 2016 conference was held in Phoenix, USA, hosted by the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. On April 8, Dr. Cary Herzberg, President of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC), called for the opening, followed by honoring of Professor Brien A. Holden, the deceased senior in the world of optometry, by Dr. Sami El Hage and Dr. Earle Smith representing the AAOMC.
Chinese optometrist Professor Lu Fan, principal of Wenzhou Medical University, introduced the influence of accommodation on adolescents wearing ortho-K lenses. Many participants actively discussed some of the new theories proposed by Professor Lu Fan, resulting in the joint lecture being very lively. With questions being raised one after another, Professor Lu Fan answered them carefully and left a deep impression on the audience.

 

8th Chinese Congress of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (CCRVO) and Shandong Province 20th Ophthalmology Conference

On April 10, 2016, the 8th Chinese Congress of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (CCRVO) and Shandong Province 20th Ophthalmology Conference were successfully concluded at Shandong Conference Center. The meeting was hosted by the Chinese Medical Association, the Chinese Ophthalmological Society, and the Basic Research Development Committee of the Chinese Ophthalmological Society Ophthalmology. With the cooperation of the Shandong Medical Association, the Eye Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Eye Institute of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, more than 1,000 ophthalmology related persons from Asia, including China, participated in nearly 100 academic exchange activities.

Professor Yao Ke, the leader of the National Cataract Study Group and the successor chief member of the Chinese Ophthalmological Society, conceived "Mobile Ophthalmology Hospital" of ZJU 2nd Hospital Eye Center, and it has run more than 400,000 kilometers during the past 20 years, interviewing about 30,000 people and performing about 5000 free surgical operations.

 

46th COVD Annual Meeting

The 46th annual meeting of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) was held in St. Louis, USA from April 12 to 16, 2016. There were 20 attendees from China. During the meeting period, Professor Liu Longqian of West China Hospital, Sichuan University underwent a rigorous test and interview and became the first Chinese citizen to be certified as a special member (FCOVD-A). Professor Duan Changmin (Chinese committee member of the COVD international committee), a Chinese descent and professor of the State University of New York College of Optometry, was awarded the COVD Promotion Prize for his contribution to the dissemination of COVD in China.
