Promoting development of new products and new technologies for regenerative medicine

I.B CO., LTD. (Tatsuro Itabashi, President) signed a business partnership agreement with Vision Care Inc. (Masayo Takahashi, President) on December 2, 2019.

 

Leveraging the fields of expertise and management resources of each company, Vision Care Inc., a company aiming to achieve the practical application of regenerative medicine using retinal sheets derived from iPS cells, and our company, which exports and sells medical devices in the ophthalmology field in China, we will promote development of new products and new technologies for regenerative medicine in China.

 

Ms. Takahashi, President of Vision Care, is the former project leader of the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN), who performed the world's first surgery to transplant retinal cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) into the eye of a patient with advanced eye disease in 2014. Vision Care plays a role as a bridge between research and medical sites in order to accelerate the practical application of regenerative medicine.

 

I.B CO., LTD. has been selling medical devices used in the ophthalmology field (intraocular lenses, contact lenses) as an exclusive distributor in China for the past 30 years and entered the field of regenerative medicine in China two years ago, and currently sells peripheral products such as media for iPS/ES cell and adult stem cell culture (Ajinomoto Co., Inc) and scaffold materials (Matrixome Inc.).

 

We aim to accelerate the practical application of regenerative medicine through the synergy between the high technological skills of Vision Care and utilization of customer (researcher) networks of I.B CO., LTD. in China.
